The Institute of the Motor Industry Exhaust Fitting Course

The IMI Exhaust Fitting course is a 2 day course aimed at technicians who replace exhaust systems.  Candidates must have a minimum of  3 months practical exhaust fitting experience and possess good communication skills.

Successful candidates will receive an IMI Quality Approved Award in Exhaust Fitting.  This award is recognised throughout the motor industry and will count as a credit towards the nationally recognised Technical Certificate in Vehicle Fitting as well as forming part of the Vehicle Fitting NVQ.

• Common faults associated with exhaust systems
• Fault identification methods
• Legal requirements

Course Content: Practical

• Exhaust system inspection and fault reporting.
• Safe exhaust system component removal and replacement.
• Exhaust manifold stud removal and replacement.

IMI assessment and test       

• A multi-choice theory question paper
• Three practical assessments, observed by an IMI approved assessor.
